Elephant release Dota2 team and leave the pro scene

Chinese dream team - Elephant has decided to release their Dota2 and temporary leaving the pro scene for now, following the bad result at TI10.

Although having the dream to become the Galacticos of Chinese Dota at first, Elephant's plan keep struggling. Instead of being a power-house, the team appeared to be just 5 stars being putted together and go up and down patch to patch, without the consistency they looking for.

Starting with the ideal of 5 players who willing to play together no matter what, the recruitment made the team owner going through a lot of trouble with drama and contract issue. Even after everything settle, Elephant was playing under expectation. China’s super team didn’t qualify to any of the Major tournaments despite doing fairly well locally, in the tournaments outside of the Dota Pro Circuit. They clinched their ticket to TI10 via regional qualifiers, but the much needed redemption story did not happen. The boys only pulling through group stage second to last, and being beaten down by EG in lower bracket first round, finished 13th/16th at TI10.

As the result of unsuccessful year, team owner decided to terminate the contract of all players and pulling out of Dota2 pro scene for now.

In an official post made on their Weibo page, Elephant announced that while for Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun and coach Bai "rOtK" Fan the contract have naturally come to an end, the organization has also decided to terminate the contracts with Lu "Somnus" Yao, Zhou "Yang" Haiyang and Xu "fy" Linsen, who are now free agents and can look for other opportunities without having to deal with another transfer burden. At the same time, Xie "Super" Junhao, who joined the team ahead of the TI10 regional qualifiers on loan from Royal Never Give Up, will return to his organization.

In the past year, we did our best to and provided as much financial support as possible, but as a team that basically relies on the love of its fans, the gap between ideals and reality led the company to finally decide to disband the team.

Sorry to disappoint everyone.  – Elephant

On top of that, some of the players are still stuck at Romania due to Chinese Covid visa restriction. The organization promise that they will do everything they can to help the players return home. With the DPC register close on Nov 21th, the situation getting harder for the remaining players who still at Burcharest.
